Urban Vegetable Gardening Class in Kitsap County

Spring is almost here,  so Anne Burkhardt and Gayle Larson will be teaching another 6 week course on Vegetable Gardening at Pheasant Fields Farm to get you ready to grow some of your own local food!  Designed for both beginning and more experienced gardeners, the classes cover all aspects of growing vegetables, including:

  • Garden site selection and design
  • Soil building and fertilization
  • Vegetable varieties that thrive in our climate
  • Irrigation systems
  • Simple support and protection structures
  • Sustainable pest management
  • Harvesting tips and information

The classes focus on hands-on practice,  and each student will plant seeds for transplants to take home at the end of the session.

Classes begin on Sunday, March 7th and end on April 25th (no class April 4th.)  We will meet from 4:oo to 6:00 PM and the cost is $150 for the course.  Class size is limited to 6 participants.  Pheasant Fields Farm is in Silverdale on Clear Creek Road.

About Gayle Larson

I'm a Certified Professional Horticulturist (CPH) and landscape designer and have lived in Kitsap County for the past 10 years. While ornamental gardening is wonderful, growing food sustainably is my passion. The only thing more satisfying than running out to the garden to pick fresh tomatoes and broccoli for dinner is to share my experience and knowledge with others. YOUR successful garden is as exciting to me as my own!
