A Great Time Was Had By All
In the Pacific Northwest identifying spring can be a bit of a challenge. We look for warmer days, the sun, and clear skies to clue us in. When in fact all you need is a farm full of excited children dressed in their best rain gear to let you know spring has arrived!
With encouragement from Nikki Johanson at Pheasant Fields Farm we ventured into our first community egg hunt.
Judging by all the smiling faces, young and old, it was a great success.
Thanks to all of you who came and enjoyed the farm. Hope to see you next year!
P.S. If you have any plastic eggs looking for a home, consider donating them to Pheasant Fields Farm and Rodstol Lane Farm for next year’s hunt. Recycle!

Thank you, Cynthia and Tony, for providing families in your area an opportunity to visit your farm and enjoy some country fun. I bet it will be an egg hunt the kids won’t forget.
Our hunt at Pheasant Fields Farm went very well this year. I think the best solution to keep everyone happy was to impose a reservations-only stipulation on the event to avoid over-crowding.
We have it all figured out now. It ran like clock work at our farm, thanks to the talents and planning efforts of a fantastic and dedicated crew. My best memory is of all the parents singing louder than the children the “Bunny Foo Foo” song as they walked out of our woods. Everyone had a good time. And every child left the farm happy this year! That was my personal goal as well as to provide some boxes of canned food for the C.K. food bank, thanks to the attendees!
My vision is for several farms throughout the county to participate in an annual egg hunt next year. A map could be published providing directions to each farm and an email/phone number/website contact for reservations.
It’s all an effort to link our community to our farms by putting a face on those farms and giving them some exposure. In doing so, it’s a another way for the public to bond and build support for agriculture in Kitsap.
Thanks again, Cynthia and Tony for sharing your beautiful Rodstol Lane Farm.
