Vote for Poulsbo Farmers Market!
American Farmland Trust, the national leader in Farmland preservation is sponsoring an “America’s Favorite Farmers Markets contest, to help support their “No Farms, No Food” campaign. Our favorite farmers market, Poulsbo, is entered in this contest. Click on the link below, enter our zip code,98370, and you will be able to pull up the PFM and vote!
We’ll keep you posted on the results as the contest progresses. As of
Wednesday, June 18, we were number 2 in WA, with Renton topping the votes.
So, get voting:
Stefeny Anderson, the Renton Farmers Market Coordinator also serves on the WA State Farmers Market Association Board, so in my capacity as the
Executive Director of the WSFMA, nothing would delight me more than to have Poulsbo win!!!
We will have free “No Farms, No Food” bumper stickers available no later than June 27. Stop by the PFM booth and pick one up.
If the PFM wins, we will receive free No Farms, No Food totes for all our customers.
It’s a sweet time at the market when the berries and cherries come in. One of our favorite recipes is for cherry salsa. You can find it on the markets’website.
Strawberries are especially delicious when added to a mix of the greens
available right now! Add some smoked cheese for a salad wow!
These fruits are easy to freeze: Pit the cherries, put in a ziploc bag and freeze.
Strawberries freeze nicely by putting on a tray in a single layer, freeze, then package them up. You’ll be able to remove as few or as many berries as you need.
Blueberries just need to be washed, stem if need be, and freeze in bags. Put the taste of summer away now for a winter taste delight!
We also want to remind you that we will be celebrating our food independence with a fourth of July market day next Saturday! It’s a first for us and we look forward to seeing you!
Thanks,
Jackie and Michele
PS.
Remember you can use your credit, debit and Quest cards at the PFM booth. We’re happy to help make your shopping at the PFM even easier.
Music and sunshine can be found every market day. As the 2008 market season continues to wind down, don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy our Poulsbo treasure!
