ACHIEVEMENTS:
Bill has helped hundreds of farm families improve their prosperity. He has written columns and articles on business for local area. He has presented before Washington Bankers Association Ag Bankers and the National Farm Management Instructors (NFRBMEA). He has compiled enterprise analysis cost and returns from actual farm records. His annual cost of production estimate for Columbia Basin Crops is used by farmers, processors, and state and national statisticians and product commissions.
In July 2000, the Western Agricultural Economics Association awarded Bill a Certificate of Merit as the Outstanding Extension Program in Agricultural Economics. This was for Bill’s part in a marketing and risk management team including OSU, WSU, and University of Idaho and industry experts in farm management and marketing. The team presented in Spokane, Pendleton, Boise, and Pocatello. The program was outreach to farmers, ranchers, lenders, and others in agri-business. Bart Eleveld and Bill presented the decision-making tools portion and were given the highest score by participants for usefulness and interesting presentation.
