KCAA Looks To Expand Its Board of Directors For Ambitious 2010 Plan
The Kitsap Community and Agricultural Alliance is seeking new, passionate, skilled members to stand for election to the board. In January of 2009 the then existing board laid out its vision of what was needed to advance the cause of local food and local agriculture in a document it has entitled its task force outline. All throughout 2009 in our regular monthly educational meetings, special promotions such our winter CSA promotion and special events such as the recent highly successful Local Food Chef Showoff the KCAA has made measurable progress toward its objectives as we were able to sign up over 200 new subscribers for Kitsap farmers offering CSA shares and nearly 400 people attended the Local Food Chef Showoff.

All that activity has attracted new members and supporters, opening new opportunities to accomplish even more for the coming year.
A number of leaders have stepped forward to offer their time, talents and resources to work with KCAA to continue the construction of our local food network. They include:
- Scott Hall of the Legacy Farm Project

Community Members,
My name is Marieke Gerritsen and I am in the process of starting a new food and agricultural tourism business in Olympia, Washington called NW Epicurean.
NW Epicurean is going to be highlighting and promoting our local food and spirits community through bus tours within the 100 mile radius of Olympia, Washington.
My goal is to have four highlighted locations per four hour day that give tour members a chance to sample, learn about, and enjoy the various farms and businesses throughout the South Puget Sound region. Consumers, my customers, will get an in-depth educational tour of the local farms (urban and rural), wineries, breweries, bakeries, butchers, and creameries that sustain our food culture year round.
The tours will bring potential customers to your onsite business location to learn about your product and your business values. This opportunity will bring your business free advertisement and a chance to promote and sell your local product. My customers would be anyone from restaurateurs researching the local food market for potential vendors to tourists discovering the culture and community that makes the South Puget Sound region as special as it is.
The tours will range from 10 to 25 people on an average of four days a week throughout the year. I would like to get as many local farmers and artisans involved as possible to make every tour day unique and worthwhile for both you and the consumers. I will be happy to start scheduling days for tours where they are most convenient for your schedule.
If this opportunity appeals to you, please contact me by phone at 360-915-8245 or email at Marieke@nwepicurean.com. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for a more detailed information or to schedule a meeting.
Visit my website at NWEpicurean.com to get a feel for NW Epicurean and my business values. -I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Sincerely,
Marieke Gerritsen
