FreshLocal – the Store Coming in October

Fresh local vegetables, plus eggs, cheese, milk, frozen meats and locally made value-added food products will soon be available in Bremerton in the premises formerly the home of Luigi’s Bakery on 15th Street in Bremerton.

A group of local farmers, including StartNow, Pheasant Fields and Harlow Gardens, are behind the effort to bring the store into being, and we’d like to associate with many more. All local farmers and producers of local food products who follow non-toxic, sustainable principles are invited to contact Jean Schanen, jscha@speakeasy.net to become involved. We know it’s late to plant most winter crops, but this is an ongoing venture, and we want to hear from you now to start planning for participation starting in spring.

Local food lovers, we want to hear from you too! We will create a mailing list of interested folks so that we can send you updates on our progress, let you know what’s available on and ongoing basis, and seek your input on what you’d like to buy in our store. Our space is limited, but we’re thinking that some organic bulk products like beans and grains and organic spices would round out our offerings.
We think this is a perfect partnership of fresh produce and fresh baked goods that will make a big contribution to the community based, locally grounded way of life so many of us want here in Bremerton.

We need and cherish your support. Please let us hear from you.

Great plan! The easier it is for consumers to find these high quality, local foods; the greater the demand and the steadier the support for our local food producers!

I recently learned of this wonderful venture from the owner of Pheasant Field Farms while my daughter was attending “Farm Camp” there!
We currently purchase their beautiful food at the local farmers market and can’t wait to become regulars at the new store.

What a terrific idea! A ray of sunshine, just as autumn begins.

I used to shop at the Pike Market in Seattle every Saturday, year-round, and have missed that resource. Woohoo that this store is coming! We’d love to receive news as it progresses.
