Jocelyn Waite (right) and Friend Invite You To A Cabin fever Celebration

The 2009 Celebration of New Year’s Day by Jocelyn and Jeff Waite was the highlight of my winter season for sure. The owner/managers of the Harbour Pub and the Pegasus Coffee House threw a three series collection of fine local  food, local beverages and great dance music at the Bainbridge Island Grange Hall, 10340 Madison Ave Ne, Bainbridge Island.

Jocelyn and Jeff are among the most gracious hosts I have ever experienced and the parties they host reflect the warmth that lives within them for their guests and friends.

Full Disclosure: Jeff Waite has been elected to serve on the board of KCAA for 2010 and we are grateful that he did. Their success and that of their businesses is a success for local food in Kitsap and we are happy to promote them.

That means that if you can wait until New Years Day to celebrate the incoming decade you will be treated to world class local cuisine prepared by Chef Jeff McClelland and the staff of the Pub. The two Jeff’s and Jocelyn have hosted a number of “50 Mile Dinners” at the coffee house during the last year where all of the food was grown within that radius or shorter. I was fortunate to join them at one dinner and it was a special treat.

All of the music during last year’s series was enriching and fun with Klesmer music, western swing and bluegrass played by some of our treasured local musicians. Judging from the crowd feedback though the hit of the season was music by The Tallboys. What made that day so special? Well, the Tallboys brought along their “caller” and spent about a half hour teaching everyone in the hall to square dance. I can tell you, there were no wall flowers during the entire set.

The Tall Boys are frequently featured artists on the Bluegrass Ramble program every Sunday on KBCS FM from noon to 3:00 pm. If you haven’t discovered KBCS yet, you need to do so. You will not find a better collection of local and international artist programming that is so fun to listen to. It has definitely become my Sunday tradition. The Tallboys will also be attending the Wintergrass Festival this year at the Bellevue Hyatt.

So, break out your dancing shoes, grab your favorite gal or fella and we’ll meet you on the floor. Yee-Haw. See you there.

“…the Tallboys are famous for their numerous appearances in the Market along with other appearances throughout the Seattle area… The hard driving fiddle played by Joe Fulton in “Cumberland Gap” and “Sally Ann” are a couple of my all time favorites and make you want to jump up and flatfoot dance along with the track… Providing the background for flatfoot and square dancing has been a major part of their passion for this style music…!”

Spent Halloween night at the Pub and had a howl…this looks like fun too. But is it on New Year’s Day? and, at what time. We are just here on Hidden Cove Rd. but don’t want to arrive late…

Oops. Looks like I left out a couple of important details. I have corrected the post but here they are again:
